Hi, I’m Cory… Video Producer, Drone Pilot, and Serious Film Nerd Oh yeah, and I’m also the founder of Speedramp Media.

In my long career as a marketing copywriter and video producer, I’ve seen your problems firsthand. I know you don’t want dull, dry, and boring corporate video content. You want something visually and emotionally engaging that speaks from the heart. And you need a video partner who understands your priorities and knocks it out of the park so all stakeholders are happy.

I also know you’ve got enough on your plate and an endless number of other projects to juggle. So why not let the Speedramp Media team take the pressure off with start to finish video production that’s going to connect with your audience?

I Created SpeedRamp Media to Help You Get to the Heart of Your Story.

But First, Here's Ours...

1982

It was the summer of ‘82, I was eight years old, and I watched a film that would change my life forever: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. I saw it four times and decided then and there that I wanted to become a famous Hollywood movie director. I realized movies had the power to make me feel every emotion possible, and I wanted to make that happen for others.

1990

After years of pleading, my mom bought me my first video camera and I spent most of my senior year of high school filming every moment possible. The camera was huge, but I took it everywhere I went. I still have the VHS tapes today in a drawer in my studio.

1995

I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Film Studies degree. However, I’d become a little wiser since being the eight-year-old who had just seen E.T. for the first time. At this point I knew that clawing my way up the Hollywood ladder was not my scene.

2000

I moved home to Silicon Valley at the peak of the dot com boom and started working as a marketing copywriter for a number of tech companies. After the previous four years fronting a rock band in Santa Barbara, it was a whole new world. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my detour into corporate life was going to be a huge part of my success as a video producer.

2002

With the dot com bust came a personal epiphany: traditional employment with its cubicles, bureaucracy, and politics was not my scene either. I got an MBA at San Jose State University and started my own marketing copywriting business, Fossum Creative.

2003

Still not content without a career involving video, I started my first production company, Biographique Films. I bought the fanciest video camera I could afford, taught myself how to use Final Cut Pro 7, and focused on telling family legacy stories. But in a pre-YouTube world, the popularity of video just hadn’t exploded yet. With my copywriting business taking off and a baby on the way, it was time to focus on more practical endeavors.

2004

I got my copywriting big break with one of the most well known companies in the world. Just like Fight Club, the first rule of working with this iCompany is you never talk about working with this iCompany. So while I can neither confirm nor deny this ever happening, if it did, it was definitely a career-changer, setting the course for my business over the next few years.

2010

It happened unexpectedly, but 28 years after the original, I had another ‘E.T.’ moment. This time it was Google’s ‘Parisian Love’ Super Bowl ad. The way it made me feel re-awakened my passion for emotive storytelling and filmmaking, and I was reminded of what I really wanted to do with my life. Social media and technology had finally caught up and the timing was perfect for starting the video production company I have today.

2013

I discovered the lengths I love going to for my clients when we turned my living room into a concert hall, threw a huge rock show, and created an unforgettable promo video. The effort certainly paid off, as we were awarded our first ADDY Award from the American Advertising Association. And just one year later, we won our second ADDY Award and the Judge’s Choice Award for a client testimonial video.

2017

I bought my first drone, the DJI Mavic Pro, and learned to fly. Eight months later I crashed it into the shoreline of Bora Bora. I’m not a quitter, so I bought another one and kept flying as often as possible.

2019

We made my favorite video ever for our client, Hubitat. The characters were played by my own family, so it feels like a time capsule I get to cherish forever. The love and dedication that went into this video paid off and we won our third ADDY Award for it.

2021

Believe it or not, after the disastrous Bora Bora drone crash of 2017, I actually became really good at flying. As a pandemic project, I got my FAA Part 107 drone pilot license, which allows me to fly and operate a drone for commercial purposes. This meant we could now offer it as a service to clients and add the extra ‘wow’ factor to videos. Of course, to celebrate, I went out and bought a brand-new Mavic 2 Pro drone.

2022

After 20 years of operating as Fossum Creative, the company had well and truly developed beyond my freelance copywriting business. We rebranded as SpeedRamp Media to more closely reflect our passion for producing awesome, strategic videos for our clients.
